Improving Woodland Shots with Picasa

These pictures were taken in woodland at the start of winter with virtually no leaves and relatively open to the sky. As you can see the original photograph is a little washed out IMO. But this little procedure can help, maybe.

    Open the image
    Crop if required
    Go to the effects tab and select glow. Leave the settings as is and select apply
    Select the Tuning Tab"
    Move Shadows slider in line with the "C" below.
    Move the Colour Temp slider to the last "e" in temperature

Here is the final result and I think it's more like what I saw on the day when I took the photograph.
